Reiki is an amazing energy that works for all living beings because, simply put, all things are made up of energy. Therefore, Reiki for animals works just the same as it does for people!
If you have a pet Reiki healing can work just as well on your dog or cat, as it does on you! Like humans, animals do respond positively to the energy transference that takes place in a Reiki session.
Since the start of my practice I’ve shared with my students about how to practice Reiki for animals, and encouraged them to try Reiki on pets that they might have, be it cats or dogs, or any Reiki animals you might love and have a bond with, for several reasons.
In fact, I was interviewed by Nutmeg TV about my passion for Reiki animals on an episode of “Cat Tails”!
Listed below are 3 reasons Reiki animals love healing energy:
1.) Animals don’t have the same human “filters” or barriers we have learned through societal interaction, which seem to make us wary of things we can’t see or understand.
On the contrary, if you approach them with love and a peaceful mindset, animals naturally accept Reiki because they feel the energy and appreciate the warmth of its healing affects, without the fear of the unknown.
If you have tried pet Reiki on Fido and he or she doesn’t feel comfortable with it, they will let you know immediately. If they love it, and you plan to attend a Reiki circle or Reiki share, you might ask if you can bring your cat or dog along, just to hang out around the flow of healing energy.
Some animals will allow only a quick session or may accept it one time you offer and not another. Through this we learn to respect the animal’s desire to have Reiki or not.
2.) I always tell my clients “if nothing else Reiki will help you relax” and that is the same for animals. They usually lie quietly or sit and allow the session to take place; they often get a relaxed look in their eyes.
Some pets (my dogs in particular) will move around as though they are trying to guide the energy to where they would like it to go.
3.) Dogs and cats are amazing spiritual teachers, they embody many spiritual qualities. In essence, the are all Reiki healing animals!
Let them teach you to use the nature of energy and learn through them to commune with other species on a soul level. This in turn helps us connect with humans on a soul level and develop confidence and trust in our ability to share Reiki’s healing qualities together.
As a Reiki Master, though I no longer offer training sessions since I’ve relocated from Connecticut to Colorado, I’ve always recommended that students learn more about pet Reiki and seek as much info as they can on the subject. Reiki healing does not involve the administration of any drug, just a gentle physical contact with the animal, so it is unlikely to do your pet any harm. Animals love Reiki and it will work for them.
